How to Redirect your Dubsado Forms after Submission

See this content in the original post

Have you ever wanted to redirect your client to an entirely different page after they submit one of your Dubsado forms? It’s possible with Lead Capture forms, and since the new form builder release, you’re able to redirect with public Proposals. But it’s not possible with private Proposals or Questionnaires.

Why would you want to utilize a redirect? Great question!

Let’s say you’re using the majority of Dubsado’s features except for their invoicing or payment integrations. For example, you would rather use PayPal’s new payment plan feature or send people to Stripe’s native checkout page, where you have your own settings for transactions.

Previously, you would have to set this up manually and couldn’t fully take advantage of Dubsado’s automation features. Until now…

If you want to redirect your leads after they submit a Lead Capture form, open your form in Dubsado, then:

  1. Copy the link you want the form to redirect to after submission.

  2. Click Form settings on the sidebar.

  3. In the Redirect URL, paste the link URL.

  4. Click Save form.

If you need to redirect your client to another Dubsado form, you’ll have to do it manually through a project or automatically through a workflow.

If you’re using a Dubsado Proposal and/or Questionnaire to redirect people after form submission, then adding an HTML block is easy since we’re provided this element in the form builder. Unfortunately, if you’re using a Contract or Sub Agreement form, you won’t be able to utilize the redirect because these type of forms do not allow for HTML blocks.

This is your Javascript. Add an HTML Block onto your Dubsado form. Delete the example code, then copy and paste the following code into the block:

  1. Update your redirect link where you see https://www.google.com

  2. Update how you want to open the redirect by updating where you see yes

  3. Keeping “yes” will open your redirect URL in a new tab while changing it to “no” will open the redirect from the same page as your Dubsado form.

  4. Finally, save and preview your form to see if the redirect is working correctly.

  5. Make sure you do NOT delete the straight single quotes wrapping the value (https://www.google.com and yes).

While I’ve provided two different methods to opening your form redirect, we recommend keeping the “yes” option in the code so that your form redirect will open in a new tab.

Opening in a new tab is a fail safe to make sure that your Dubsado form has been submitted properly. We tested both ways (new tab vs. same tab) and either option is proven to wait until Dubsado’s processing is complete. However, our thought is that it might be a better experience for your lead/prospect/client to see the submitted version of the form. But I’ll leave that up to you!
